Robert Strong

Robert John Strong of Gorrie, affectionately known as "PAWSY" to his friends and family, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008 at Wingham & District Hospital. Born in Howick Township on August 28, 1938, Pawsy was in his 70th year. Beloved husband of Marie (Hastie) Strong. Dear father of Jill and Brian Welsh of Harriston and Kent and Lynda Strong of Fordwich. Loving grandfather of Kyle, Sara, Leslie and Kelsey. Also loved by his brother Dr. Alex Strong and Gwen of Wingham, his sisters Helen Currie of Wingham and Joanne and Bob Allan of Kitchener, his brother in law Tom and Mary Hastie of Dorchester, his sisters in law Edith and Wallace Cameron of Chatsworth, Ilene Hastie of Gorrie, Marg and Keith Finnigan of Dorchester, Jean Strong of Gorrie, and Louise Strong of Listowel. Predeceased by his parents John and Reta Strong, brothers Bill and Perry and his brothers in law Bob Hastie and John Currie. Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Thursday from the Gorrie Visitation Centre of the Schimanski Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted from Gorrie United Church on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2 PM with Reverend Jeff Hawkins officiating. Cremation with interment in Gorrie Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Gorrie United Church or the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation.
