Mildred Irene (Philbrook) Gillis, a long time resident of RR#2 Brussels, passed away at Seaforth Community Hospital on Wednesday, June 24th, 2009. Born in Toronto on April 29th, 1927, Mildred was in her 83rd year. Wife of the late Harry Gillis, who predeceased her on March 19th, 2007. Dear mother of Louise MacDonald and husband Dennis of RR#2 Crediton, John Gillis and wife Pat of RR#2 Brussels, Lydia Dillman and husband Fred of North Star, Alberta, and Kevin Gillis and wife Nancy of Wingham. Also loved by her sister Ella Moore and husband Stan of Bobcaygeon, her 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son Tom, grandchildren Heather and Dean, her brother Howard and sister Lorraine. Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 PM Friday from the Schimanski Family Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be conducted Saturday from Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation.
