Brussels

  1. Barbara Joan Morano-Zuber (nee Cooper) age 88 years passed away at Huronlea Home for the Aged on June 12, 2024. Predeceased by her loving husband John Anthony Morano (1978). Survived by son Michael John Morano (Sandra) of Clinton and his son Adam (Amanda); daughter Janet Morano of Goderich, Cathy Morano (Bill) of Goderich and Marilyn Damery (Rod) of Oakville and their family Matthew and Morgan. She is also survived by sister Marilyn Bogart of Winnipeg, Manitoba and her cousin Marie Symak of Barrie, ON.

Mom was predeceased by her parents Mary Cascagnette and Frank Cooper, brothers Gary (Marian) and Jim, sister Shirley (Bob) all from Winnipeg. She was also predeceased by Marie Trudeau, her loving grandmother.

Mom was born in Orillia, ON on December 27th, 1935, and she married on December 27th, 1955 in Orillia, ON. Mom and dad moved often for our dad's work, living in Hamilton, Stratford, Thamesford and finally residing in Oakville for 52 years.

Mom was widowed at a young age and she was left to raise 4 children while working as a bookkeeper. She was lucky enough to find a second love where she married Tony Zuber and they spent 10 years travelling around Europe and Cuba and dancing every week at the Austrian Club.

Mom's greatest joy was her family, faith, travel, dancing, good friends and bingo ( which she always won at). Mom played a pivotal role in all of her grand children's younger years, by babysitting, being a fan in the stands and taking them on day trips to fun attractions. She was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Oakville since 1969 and a member of the Friendship Club, Marian Ladies and the Catholic Women's League for over 50 years.

Mom spent her final years in Goderich, ON, where she enjoyed country drives with daughter Cathy which always included a hot dog, ice cream or butter tart which she said brought her much joy.

In January 2024, mom's health began to fail and we moved her to Huronlea Home for the Aged, where she received kind and compassionate care from all the staff members.

Mom will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Church in Oakville, ON on Wednesday July 3rd, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Celebration of life to follow at Moe's Family Restaurant in Oakville on Speers Road. Burial will be in August at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Orillia.

In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy donations to The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
